Certified Media & Data
Destruction in Brazil

Permanently eliminate data from HDDs, SSDs and mobile devices with audit-ready proof — and turn the IT equipment your company is replacing into revenue. Secure on-site pickup, nationwide across Brazil.

Media destruction is the process of permanently eliminating data stored on devices such as hard drives, SSDs and smartphones — either through verified logical sanitization (secure erasure) or through physical destruction of the device. InteSys performs the process with per-serial-number tracking, a documented chain of custody and a certificate of destruction: the evidence your organization needs for audits and for Brazil's data protection law (LGPD).

Formatting is not destruction: why your company needs certified destruction

Formatting a drive, deleting partitions or performing a factory reset does not erase the data: the information remains on the device and can be recovered with free tools. When a corporate computer, server or phone leaves your company without sanitization, the data leaves with it — contracts, customer records, credentials, payroll.

Brazil's General Data Protection Law (Law No. 13,709/2018, LGPD) requires, under Article 16, the deletion of personal data once processing ends. Disposing of or selling equipment with recoverable data exposes the data controller to sanctions and reputational damage. Certified destruction closes that risk with a method and documentary proof.

Data destruction and sanitization methods

InteSys applies the appropriate method for each media type and your security policy, aligned with NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 (Guidelines for Media Sanitization), the international reference for secure media sanitization.

Method (NIST 800-88) How it works When to use it
Logical sanitization (Clear/Purge) Verified overwriting, Secure Erase or cryptographic erase, with an individual report per device Equipment that will be reused, resold or donated — preserves the asset's value
Physical destruction (Destroy) Shredding, crushing or disintegrating the media so no reconstruction is possible Failed media, highly sensitive data, or contractual/regulatory requirements

SSD and NVMe notice: Flash controllers redistribute writes (wear leveling) and keep reserved blocks invisible to the operating system, so ordinary overwriting cannot guarantee elimination — and degaussing has no effect at all. For SSDs we use verified cryptographic erase/Secure Erase or physical destruction. Media that fails sanitization verification is automatically routed to physical destruction, and the event is recorded on its certificate.

Media and equipment we process

  • HDDs from desktops, laptops and servers (SATA, SAS)
  • SSDs, NVMe and M.2 drives
  • Corporate smartphones and tablets
  • Complete servers, storage systems and arrays
  • Laptops, desktops and workstations
  • Network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls)

Replacing IT equipment? We buy it.

Idle equipment in storage is idle money — and a data breach waiting to happen. Beyond certified destruction, InteSys buys lots of retired corporate IT equipment: laptops, desktops, servers, storage, monitors and peripherals.

The process is simple: send us your inventory (or ask for help building it), our team evaluates each item and presents a commercial proposal. Equipment with resale value goes through certified data sanitization first — security before remarketing, always. Items with no economic viability move on to environmentally responsible recycling.

In many projects, the value recovered by selling the equipment partially or fully offsets the cost of destruction and logistics. Turn a disposal expense into revenue.

  • Technical evaluation and a proposal for the entire lot within 48 hours
  • Corporate lot purchases anywhere in Brazil
  • Invoice (nota fiscal) and property-transfer document for fixed-asset write-off
  • Certified sanitization before any resale
I want to sell my equipment

How it works: from pickup to certificate

  1. 1

    Inventory and scope

You tell us quantities, media and equipment types, and whether any items are for sale. We define the method for each group together.

  2. 2

    Proposal

Within 48 hours you receive a proposal with scope, service pricing and asset buyback values.

  3. 3

    Secure pickup at your site

We collect materials anywhere in Brazil, in sealed, identified containers with chain-of-custody records.

  4. 4

    Processing

Every device is logged by serial number and processed with the contracted method: verified sanitization or physical destruction.

  5. 5

    Certificates and final report

You receive a per-serial-number certificate of destruction, a consolidated operation report and the applicable fiscal documents.

Documentation for audits, LGPD and ESG

An audit asks three things: which method was used on each device, who performed it, and where the evidence is. Our documentation answers all three:

  • Per-serial-number certificate of destruction/sanitization, with method, date and verification result
  • Chain-of-custody report, from pickup to final destination
  • Photographic or video report of the destruction, when contracted
  • Invoice and property-transfer documents for purchased equipment

This package supports LGPD Article 16 obligations, internal information-security policies and ESG reporting, with the traceability internal and external auditors expect.

Reverse logistics and environmental responsibility

Nothing we process ends up in a common landfill. After destruction or triage, materials move into electronics recycling and recovery chains in line with Brazil's National Solid Waste Policy (Law No. 12,305/2010). Reusing what still has value and recycling what does not is the safest, most economical and most sustainable operation.

Media destruction FAQ

Doesn't formatting a hard drive erase the data?

No. Formatting rebuilds the file structure, but the data stays on the disk and can be recovered with free tools. Only verified sanitization or physical destruction guarantees permanent elimination.

What is the difference between sanitization and physical destruction?

Sanitization (secure erasure) eliminates the data while preserving the device for reuse or resale. Physical destruction renders the media unusable. Both produce certificates; the choice depends on your security policy and the equipment's condition.

Do you issue a certificate of destruction?

Yes. We issue a per-serial-number certificate with the method used, the date and the verification result — evidence for audits and LGPD compliance.

Which media do you destroy?

HDDs, SSDs, NVMe, smartphones, tablets and complete equipment such as servers, storage systems, laptops and network equipment.

Does degaussing work on SSDs?

No. SSDs and NVMe drives store data in flash memory chips, which do not respond to magnetic fields. For these devices we use verified cryptographic erase/Secure Erase or physical destruction.

Do you pick up at my company? Do you serve all of Brazil?

Yes. We collect at the client's site anywhere in Brazil, with sealed containers and a documented chain of custody.

Do you buy used IT equipment?

Yes. We buy corporate lots of laptops, desktops, servers, storage, monitors and peripherals. Send your inventory and get an evaluation within 48 hours; data is sanitized with certification before any resale.

How much is my equipment lot worth?

It depends on model, configuration, age, quantity and condition. Send your equipment list (or photos and quantities) and our team will return an evaluation. In many cases, the lot's value offsets the cost of the disposal operation.

Is the service LGPD-compliant?

Yes. The process is designed to fulfill Article 16 of Law No. 13,709/2018, with secure data elimination and per-serial documentary evidence.

How do I request a quote?

Click "Request a quote" and describe the quantities and types of media or equipment, or ask for help building the inventory. We reply with a proposal within 48 hours.
